[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1890815] Re: vainfo requires a nvidia sofile not in repositories

2022-06-13 Thread Marcos Alano
What about NVENC/NVDEC? New standard created to replace VDPAU? This
project implements a VA-API driver for this technology:
https://github.com/elFarto/nvidia-vaapi-driver I think it would be a
nice idea to package it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1883334] [NEW] Xorg freezes after Lock (win+L or via Menu>Lock)

2020-06-12 Thread Marcos R. Tosetti
Public bug reported:

This started to happen after installing the last update last week. If I
lock the screen (using either Win+L or opening the menu and clicking
Lock) the screen turns to black and it doesn't come back anymore. I know
the system is still operational since the NumLock button still responds
(turns on and off If I press it) and the HotSpot still works on my
phone, but the screen just doesn't come back from black. This wasn't an
issue before the update, it is very recent. Thank you very much!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1880293] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2020-05-23 Thread Marcos R. Tosetti
Public bug reported:

When I click the button "Show Applications" then I click on a icon and
drag over another icon, then a group is created. If I open a group then
I click on the pen button to edit the group name, the title becomes
editable, then If I delete all the letters then click out of the group
window to save the changes the UI freezes and there's nothing I can do
to unfreeze it. The system is still responsible since the mouse cursor
moves (but clicks don't have any effect) and the NUMLOCK indicator is
also responsive on the keyboard. I then panic and press a wild
combination of CTRL+ALT+Windows button+Esc+Q+F1+F2 untill the terminal
appears asking for login and password, but the UI disappears, then I can
only reboot from there.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1741447] Re: Unity / Compiz in a crash loop after login, after mesa updates of 2018-01-04

2018-01-08 Thread Marcos Gonçalves
Men, help us. I spent a lot of time yesterday dealing with this issue. I
even formatted and put a fresh 16.04 Ubuntu, but after the system
updates the problem reappears again. The system is almost unusable, I
can't pass the pointer over the side bar and everthing disappears and
appears again. My laptop is old, it dates back to 2009, with an Intel
Core 2 Duo T5800.

Updates continued and the picture changed. Now I can not get in any way.
Start with cd-live and everything works fine. Start the installation and
everything happens normally. Restart the PC and the login screen
appears. I enter the password, press enter and ... freeze! Nothing else
is possible.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1705951] Re: Freezes, crashes, returns to login screen.

2017-07-25 Thread Marcos Nascimento
Since I posted this report, some updates were made available, but the
situation got worse. Soon after the log, the screen turns black with no
action alternatives. In the "GNOME Classic" mode that was previously
able to access the system, it is now freezing too. :(

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1441951] Re: Enable DRI3

2017-04-08 Thread Marcos Alano
Should we reconsider this? Three reasons for that:
- Since Vivid (hwen reported bugs occur) the driver code evolved a lot;
- Probably would be good for the migration to a GNOME desktop environment;
- Vulkan driver is becoming more present each day and it needs the DRI3.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1371197] [NEW] Cannot get automatic wallpaper changer to work on kde

2014-09-18 Thread Marcos R . Taveras Badía
Public bug reported:

I am using unity, gnome and kde desktops. I was able to get the changer
to work on gnome and unity, although the provider of the system is
apparently out of business. Not in kde.

I returned to linux less than a month ago for an abscence of over one
year, so I an nill at debugging, though with guidance --throgh a manual
or conversation, I might be in position to debug.

In any case thanks for everything.

2014-06-15 Thread Marcos Ferradas
Public bug reported:

The monitor displays flashing horizontal white bands. I have installed
intel drivers from its official page but it didn't make any difference.
I really don't have much information about the problem since I'm new
with bug reporting and I'm not really an expert in linux.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1283938] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep

2014-04-25 Thread Marcos Sánchez
I have a samsung series 9 (900X the old model) and also suffer from the
issue. The problem is related to the suspend since I can reproduce it
by closing the lid or by suspending via the top right menu.

Additionally, the workaround described here of disable the lock on
suspend stuff doesn't work for me, neither the one of locking
beforeclosing the lid.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 577871] Re: GRAFIC HARDWARE NO SUPPORT UBUNTU BUG RESOLUTIONN

2010-05-17 Thread Marcos Felipe Mello
I have a SiS 761GX board and the symptom is the same. Ubuntu uses by
default an odd resolution to my CRT monitor, 960x600, and 1024x768 isn't
available (despite being supported). The main problem should be the DDC
support broken of sis driver.

I found this old Debian bug, probably related:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=473134

My Xorg log has these lines:

(II) SIS(0): VESA VBE DDC read failed
...
(II) SIS(0): Replaced entire mode list with built-in modes

Using another machine, with an i945G chip, plugged in the same monitor, all
works ok. The resolutions are correctly configured (uses 800x600 by default)
and I have 1024x768 as an option.

I'm attaching my log.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568492] Re: Fonts corrupted on Openoffice menus and Lotus Notes 8.5 with nvidia, compiz and twinview

The problem is related to font rendering options. Choosing Subpixel
smoothing (LCD) as font rendering option leads into the font corruption
problem. Changing to Best shapes corrects the problem.

Have tried the new version from xorg-edgers ppa (195.36.24) and I'm
getting the same problem.

Reverting to 170.x version seems to solve the problem, but performance
is horrible (compiz is almost unusable).

It seems it's related to twinview. If I configure twinview with my

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 291294] Re: after upgrade to 8.10 (new x.org) SiS driver is not working well (issue with color depth?)

2010-02-21 Thread Marcos Sánchez Provencio
I can confirm the bug is still present in karmic. My friend's old laptop
screen looks like the one attached in #25

I made it work for a while starting X in vesa driver, then in sis driver
with Options vesa True.

I am going to try to install the .deb attached or reapply the patch and
recompile (it will remind me of the times recompiling the kernel to make
the sound card work :-)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 309434] Re: Caps Lock stops being a Control key with an external keyboard

2009-07-30 Thread Marcos Toledo
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 289781 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289781

I also think the duplicate status *may* be wrong. Whereas #289781
describes a solution of running setxkbmap after resume, this wouldn't
work to fix this bug.

In this case, the keyboard mappings are lost every time the external
keyboard is unplugged, so running it after resume won't guarantee proper
functioning of the keyboard throughout the execution of the application,
since a future disconnect of the external keyboard will bring the issue
back.

This ticket (309434) is the only one that clearly describes what the
issue really is.

BTW, I'm using a wireless keyboard, which means that every time that my
keyboard loses connection even for a split second with its base, it
resets my keyboardmap, making this the most annoying ubuntu bug I've
come across, and a very important bug one to be fixed for any users of
wireless keyboards with custom mappings.

Thanks for your time,
Marcos
