When I lock the screen, I am unable to unlock it again.

The wallpaper appears for a second when I move the mouse, but disappears
again.

The video below illustrates the problem - I started the video from
bootup to show that it happens every time. The problem is shown in the
last 10-20 seconds of the clip.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 949380] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2012-03-07 Thread mathieg2
Public bug reported:

To reproduce this bug, I lock the screen. When I try to unlock the
screen, the screen flashes up with the wallpaper - then back to black
again. To workaround the problem, I have disabled the screen lock. To
get my computer back today, I will kill the X process - or restart
lightdm. standard - black screen - screensaver on ubuntu. I created this
bug-report using ssh from another computer

This is probably the same bug as 943836. I'm going to have a play with
gdb if I can work out how.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 949379] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2012-03-07 Thread mathieg2
Public bug reported:

To reproduce this bug, I lock the screen. When I try to unlock the
screen, the screen flashes up with the wallpaper - then back to black
again. To workaround the problem, I have disabled the screen lock. To
get my computer back today, I will kill the X process - or restart
lightdm. standard - black screen - screensaver on ubuntu. I created this
bug-report using ssh from another computer

This is probably the same bug as 943836. I'm going to have a play with
gdb if I can work out how.

gone away. Uptime 6 hours without a crash - was previously failing to
achieve 30 minutes

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 549579] Re: Random Xorg freeze ati radeon mobility hd 3400 when starting firefox vgn-fw11m

2010-03-30 Thread mathieg2
Randomly describes this bug perfectly. The laptop
can work for hours without an issue, or it can
crash after only 2 minutes of usage.

Computer does not have a chance to write anything to disk - so it seems
impossible to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.

'randomly' doesn't adequately describe a bug
