[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560775] Re: 2nd Screen not properly working on 10.04 [ATI X1200M] (despite working in 9.10)

2010-04-16 Thread mhactive
yesterday's updates have not changed anything at all for my situation.

But I'm quite hopeless to find a further solution. Does anyone of you
guys have a hint where to search for the origin of the problem?

What could cause the problem? is it the x-server itself, a driver-
specific problem?

virtual line removed, but no changes. I needed the virtual line for a
setup with two monitors that exceeded the predefined virtual desktop
size (not yet testet under lucid). but removing the line doesn't change
the flickering contours...

so, still a bug...

the bug appears in lucid, not in karmic. Is the added tag additional?

Otherwise I'd pledge to change it to Lucid.

attached image of the deteriorating image quality on the monitor (LCD)
from left to right.

On the left side everything is ok and readable, and finally after the
first quarter of the screen, the contours are nearly unreadable (as the
blur is dynamically changing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560775] [NEW] 2nd Screen not properly working on 10.04 [ATI X1200M] (despite working in 9.10)

2010-04-11 Thread mhactive
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After updating Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 the second screen,
namely a 23 Flatscreen, does not display contents properly.

It gets recognized correctly, but configuring ends with either a black
2nd screen (screen is not off, but black color) or the screen shows the
desktop as it should, but with very twinkling contours.

Changing resolutions, modelines etc. has not helped yet.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560775] Re: 2nd Screen not properly working on 10.04 [ATI X1200M] (despite working in 9.10)

2010-04-11 Thread mhactive
As I have undertaken further tests, I'm doubting whether it is a problem
of the xserver and the Gnome Configuration, or whether it is primarily a
problem of the ATI Driver.

Using another computer with a different graphic device doesn't show
these problems.

Another fact: The problem of the twinkling contours is increasing from
left to right on the screen. On the left margin there is nearly no
problem.
