[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1522922] Re: Screen flickering in Intel i915 driver

2017-03-29 Thread molecule-eye
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1554613 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554613

As comment #117 suggests, disabling tlp fixes it for my Broadwell
Celeron laptop. However, another way to fix it (at least for some of us)
is to set ALPM to a higher power state, which means you can keep tlp
enabled. In the tlp config file /etc/default/tlp, set the line
SATA_LINKPWR_ON_BAT=min_power to SATA_LINKPWR_ON_BAT=medium_power or to
SATA_LINKPWR_ON_BAT=max_performance. If not running tlp, add the same
line to /etc/pm/config.d/sata_alpm (and probably also for
SATA_LINKPWR_ON_AC).

The problem with this solution is that on chips where the southbridge
and cpu are packaged together (Broadwell, Haswell, etc.), the package
won't go into lower power states, so battery suffers. For instance, I
can't get it into anything lower than C2, as powertop indicates.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 630580] Re: [82G965] No compositing with kwin (and doesn't work well if enabled)

2010-11-09 Thread molecule-eye
I'm observing the same thing. With compositing enabled I'm seeing all
sorts of graphical glitches such as menus not rendering. I've also
noticed that I can no longer use the Shared Memory option under OpenGL
Options without serious rendering issues. I'm using an Intel 945GM
chipset.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 651294] Re: X crash on KDM logout (still - yes, really)

2010-10-22 Thread molecule-eye
The proposed workaround (or fix) worked for me. Others might like to
know, however, that the TerminateServer=true command should be slotted
under the category [X-*-Core], as my file did not have the line
uncommented or commented in it.

I should further mention that I'm using xserver-xorg-video-intel version
2.12.0-1ubuntu5.

2010-10-07 Thread molecule-eye
I'm not sure if I'm having this particular issues but Maverick RC shows
only the boot screen after logging out and no keyboard input appears on-
screen. When I ctr+alt+del the it shows it shutting down and the
computer restarts as expected. I'm running the stock Intel driver
powering a 945GM integrated mobile chipset.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442629] Re: Touchpad too much sensitive after upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic

2009-11-21 Thread molecule-eye
I've also noticed increased touchpad sensitivity after a clean install
of Karmic over previous releases. I'm using a Gateway NX100X. The cursor
doesn't go crazy but sensitivity is noticeably higher, even when set to
its lowest setting.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 397839] Re: Screen randomly goes off in karmic

2009-11-01 Thread molecule-eye
I can confirm in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic using Intel 945GM graphics and stock
Intel drivers. Roughly every 10min. of inactivity (sometimes less) the
screen blanks. The screensaver is disabled and gnome-power-management is
set not to blank the screen.
