I definitely I agree with Martin that we need feedback so as to be sure that the fix doesn't cause regressions. +1 from me too. -- 'nv' is selected when no xorg.conf is present even if it doesn't support the nvidia hardware https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385658 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nv in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 404577] Re: Xorg does not load in karmic using Zotac ion board A series
Karmic Live CD will still not work but forcing it to install immediately with the vesa driver and manually install the 185 driver should work. I'm using 9.04 with this driver and everything is fine. This workaround would be recommended if the 185 driver will not be integrated in the 9.10 release. bubba_169 wrote: I've found you can boot to GUI if you install the Nvidia driver. The way I did this was download and save to usb drive the driver from ftp://download.nvidia.com and then log in as the user ubuntu, mount the drive and then install. I think this bug for me has something to do with the fact nv doesnt support my graphics card which is a geforce 8200 integrated card. Perhaps you just need to set vesa as the default for those nv doesnt support? No virus found in this incoming message. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 377370] Re: power manager crash
Hi Scott, I'm regularly testing the karmic daily build. As of 20090724, the gdm does not load properly and goes to cli, asking for login(development brach). I've filed this under bug#404577. Please advise. On Tue, 2009-07-14 at 12:14 +, Scott Howard wrote: Thanks for testing it. The daily live would be the best! http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ if that doesn't work, you can try Alpha 2, but it should work. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/alpha-2/ On Mon, Jul 13, 2009 at 11:06 PM, mzcmzcari...@shaw.ca wrote: Thanks howard i'll try to burn the daily build - deskptop. would this do? The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. I hope that the nvidia ion chipset will be incorporated to karmic. I think ion will create a divide between atom fanatics. But as others say the ion may eventually target nettops due to price while the intel chipset will be more on the netbook - Original Message - From: Scott Howard Date: Monday, July 20, 2009 8:25 am Subject: [Bug 377370] Re: power manager crash To: mzcari...@shaw.ca Thanks for your debugging work. I'm assigning this to the nvidia driverpackage and confirming. Hopefully they will start including the 185 drivers soon in Karmic so this work around won't be needed. ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid ** Summary changed: - power manager crash + power manager crash when using nvidia drivers 185.18 ** Summary changed: - power manager crash when using nvidia drivers 185.18 + [9300 / 730i] power manager crash when using nvidia drivers 185.18 -- [9300 / 730i] power manager crash when using nvidia drivers 185.18https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/377370 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug.
