[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 950950] Re: nvidia-settings does not remember settings, full hd monitor runs in interlaced mode every logout/reboot

2012-05-02 Thread nerdy_kid
Same this here, just noticed it. My screen reverts to 40Hz refresh rate
after logout. I managed to work around it by checking force full panel
GPU scaling in nvidia settings and then manually passing the path to
the config file in the startup app. I now have sh -c '/usr/bin/nvidia-
settings --config=/home/nerdykid/.nvidia-settings-rc --load-config-
only' as a startup app instead of the default sh -c '/usr/bin/nvidia-
settings --load-config-only'.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 932439] Re: Horizontal scrolling reversed recently

I have a microsoft 7000 wireless mouse -- my horizontal scrolling shows
up as reversed normal scrolling (right is up, left is down). Didn't
happen in Oneiric (I'm using Precise) -- perhaps my issue is related to
this bug?

gnome-shell also does the same thing oddly enough, although it doesn't

Disabling the Unity plugin in ccsm fixes this for me. Sounds like it is
just Unity and not Compiz...

To disable Unity and test suspend:

Search for ccsm in the dash, run the compiz config. Disable the Unity
plugin. Hit ctrl alt T to get to a terminal, enter sudo pm-
suspend without quotes, give it your password hit enter. Then on
resume, just run ccsm from the same terminal and re-enable the Unity
plugin.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 491499] Re: xorg randomly crashes on resume

2010-03-08 Thread nerdy_kid
i can reproduce it fairly well by draining the battery as low as it goes
until the laptop auto-suspends (all powersaving features enabled),
plugging it in and resuming. This is with the 195.36.03 drivers, but as
the issue seems to effect all of the recent driver versions it shouldnt
matter much.

the same issue is in the 190.53 drivers, I have (vague) reason to
believe it has to do with PowerMizer.

2009-12-08 Thread nerdy_kid
directly after an X crash, i found this in /var/log/kdm.log:

[CODE]

Note that your system uses syslog. All of kdm's internally generated messages
(i.e., not from libraries and external programs/scripts it uses) go to the
daemon.* syslog facility; check your syslog configuration to find out to which
file(s) it is logged. PAM logs messages related to authentication to authpriv.*.
