[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1511704] Re: Xorg crash (probably on window resize)
penalvch, thank you for your help. I don't want to risk a BIOS update for now, so I cannot tell you if the bug is somehow BIOS-related. Instead, I have decided to try an update of my graphics drivers using this repo: ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers This "fixes" the crash problem. So, while it may still be true, that this bug is somehow BIOS-related, the fact that I am not experiencing any crashes since I've updated the graphics drivers suggests that there probably is something wrong with the graphics drivers that Ubuntu 15.10 uses by default. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511704 Title: Xorg crash (probably on window resize) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1511704/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568015] Re: Watermark AMD unsupported hardware is displayed
@coldReactive: I did not install the latest drivers. I still use the drivers that came with ubuntu and only replaced the control file located in /etc/ati I've only downloaded the latest drivers to extract the control file, not to install it :) So keep your (working) drivers and extract the latest *.run file by adding the option --extract in a terminal. Then replace your current control file with the extracted one (as described above) Please notice, that this only may help, if your graphics card is already WORKING and you only want to get rid of the watermark. If your graphics card stopped working with the drivers, that come with ubuntu 10.04 you could try to install an older one and then replace the control file. -- Watermark AMD unsupported hardware is displayed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568015 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568015] Re: Watermark AMD unsupported hardware is displayed
As stated here: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_itempx=NTkyMg you will have to: - Download the latest ati driver for your graphics card - Extract the driver by executing the downloaded *.run file with option --extract in your terminal - Go to the extracted folder and find common/etc/ati/control - Copy the file named control into /etc/ati on your file system With the latest control file the watermark should be gone. This solved the problem for me.
