[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442441] Re: Touchpad and mouse buttons not working after upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10

2010-07-01 Thread oooh
Ok, correction to my latest post:

Problem is NOT due to the nvidia driver. I uninstalled it completely,
and installed it manually from the nvida webpage.

No difference whatsoever.

I believe it just started when I upgraded to 10.04.

- dmesg does not show my touchpad now anymore, and it would do in 9.10
- xinput list does not list the device either
- sudo tpconfig tells me though:
Found Synaptics Touchpad.
Firmware: 8.96 (multiple-byte mode).
- cat /proc/bus/input/devices tells me:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442441] Re: Touchpad and mouse buttons not working after upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10

2010-06-07 Thread oooh
Hi there

I have been having this problem on VAIO FZ21M since 9.04, to 10.04.

Touchpad works intermittently, and now in 10.04, when it does not work I
get:

(--) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint: no supported touchpad found
(EE) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint
(II) UnloadModule: synaptics

I have Nvidia as well. I believe is somehow related to it, as when I
installed the Nvidia drivers, I started having touchpad problems.

Using 2.6.32.22-generic, as uname -a says

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 479839] Re: Synaptics Touchpad on Dell Inspiron 2650 not always working after restart

2010-03-27 Thread oooh
My touchpad sometimes works, and sometimes not. The touchpad buttons
always work though, and usb mouse always does.

I think this log in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file is relevant:

(WW) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint can't grab event device, errno=16

Anytime the touchpad does not work, I get this error in the log file. I
have the feeling is related to the event number assignation, as shown in
the logfile:

(**) Option Device /dev/input/event9

I think it could be related to conflictive event assignment, so maybe
the touchpad event is sometimes blocked by another device grabbing the
event. In any case, sometimes when it is not working, it is linked to
event 9 and sometimes to other event numbers.

How could I check the current device VS event assignment ? I think that
information may help us.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 243860] Re: Dell Inspiron 1420n Touchpad Stopped Working in Hardy

2010-03-17 Thread oooh
Same problem here, more details:

Touchpad works whenever I do not get this in warning in the xorg
logfile:

(ww) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad can't grab event device, errno=16

This warning happends randomly, as far as I can see. Even when the
touchpad does not work, the touchpad buttons DO work.

I will attach my xorg conf and the xorg log asa I get home.

Did somebody try this:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics#SynPS.2F2_Synaptics_TouchPad_can.27t_grab_event_device.2C_errno.3D16
?
