[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1342675] Re: Random characters in screen text suddenly disappear

2015-06-17 Thread Rod Hubbard
I have this problem on Ubuntu 15.04. I had it on previous versions of
Ubuntu as well. I did a clean install of 15.04 so the bug is still
present in 15.04 (not a remnant of the earlier versions). See attached
screenshot. I've seen the missing characters occur in Nautilus and in
the gray bar at the top of windows in Ubuntu (e.g., Firefox, gedit,
Libreoffice, file download window). On the bright side, it seems to
occur less frequently and less severely on 15.04 than in previous
versions.

** Attachment added: Download window with missing characters

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 728101] [NEW] Closing laptop lid causes screen to freeze

2011-03-02 Thread Rod Davis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This is related to another but I filed, but I wanted debug information
to be preserved. As I said in bug #726918, whenever I leave my laptop
lid closed for a long enough period of time and power manager settings
kick in, the screen locks up, preventing the cursor that I can still
move from interacting with any screen elements (and the clock freezes,
too.) Now, it appears even leaving the lid left down for a few minutes
triggers this issue. Anyways, I hope the extra debug info helps.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.14.0-1ubuntu11

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 589785] Re: Gnome panels do not display

2010-06-07 Thread Rod Roark
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 572550 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572550

It appears we are not welcome as a duplicate of #572550:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
mga/+bug/572550/comments/31

So perhaps the duplicate flagging should be removed?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 572550] Re: Panel utilities not shown on startup using Matrox gfx with compiz

2010-06-07 Thread Rod Roark
As I noted above there is already a bug report for my (nvidia) case. It
got tagged as a duplicate of this one. If the solution will simply be
to turn off compiz for matrox cards, then would someone please remove
this tagging?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 327175] Re: Sometimes loses input devices on suspend/resume: Device has changed - disabling.

2009-11-20 Thread Rod McFarland
This bug is affecting me on Karmic, Acer Aspire 5920 -- no keyboard on
resume from suspend. Mouse works. Zap brings the keyboard back.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 433801] Re: touchpad overwhelms i8042 with int 12

2009-09-30 Thread Rod Davison
/proc/bus/input/devices has this section:
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Version=88b1
N: Name=SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input8
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse1 event8
B: EV=b
B: KEY=6420 0 7 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: ABS=1103

(no reference to ALPS)

Once I found this, I found this incantation:
sudo modprobe -r psmouse
and
sudo modprobe psmouse rate=40

Having done this, I can now type and mouse at the same time. No lost
keyboard events! Whoo, hoo!

Thanks Dmitry. That seems to have done it.

I've pulled the following section out of the dmidecode output. Let me
know if you need more of it.

Handle 0x00B0, DMI type 21, 7 bytes
Built-in Pointing Device
Type: Touch Pad
Interface: PS/2
Buttons: 2

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 433801] Re: touchpad overwhelms i8042 with int 12

2009-09-30 Thread Rod Davison
Just for the record, I tried playing around with the psmouse.rate=??
option and it seems that 60 is the sweet spot. At 40 there is a
noticeable, but slight lag on the trackpad movement. At 60 it seems a
bit better, and the mouse and keyboard still seem to be simultaneously
operable.

No, I haven't. I'm downloading alpha-6 as I type this. I'll give it a
try. Has any work been done on the touchpad driver between Jaunty and
Karmic?
