Meanwhile I got some hints on askubuntu here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1241907/tpps-2-elan-trackpoint-on-thinkpad-t495-with-kubuntu-20-04

The hits work but they change only the acceleration of the trackpoint.
The basic sensivity is too slow and cannont be changed by this.

2020-09-03 Thread snow
This is all strange: in the whoopsie ID is a "0" missing, becauese if I
go to the ubuntu error reporting tool and jump from there to whoopsie
URL there are many reports from my machine, but the URL has additional
"0" at the end. Anyway I will look there for something fiiting the
problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1893774] [NEW] Screen freeze when loging in after a log out

2020-09-01 Thread snow
Public bug reported:

I use Kubuntu 20.04.1 on Thinpad T495 with encrypted disk (LVMS) and
finger print reader.

PROBLEM:
1. I boot the laptop and can work
2. I log my user out and try to log in again with te password
3. I enter the password and press enter
4. The screen freezes and shows the login screen. It can only be killed and
rebooted.

Also, the finger print reader works everywhere, but not in the situation
above. These are the seetings of my common-auth file:

# here are the per-package modules (the "Primary" block)
auth[success=2 default=ignore]  pam_fprintd.so max_tries=1 timeout=10 #
debug
auth[success=1 default=ignore]  pam_unix.so nullok_secure try_first_pass

But I do NOT think that the problem is related to the fingerprint
reader.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1887728] [NEW] Scrumbled screen after standby on encrypted system

2020-07-15 Thread snow
Public bug reported:

I use Kubuntu 20.04 on an encrypted disk (LVM).

Problem:
After a standby when you wake up the system with the standby button again, the
screen is for a short moment "scrambled" then the login dialog is presented and
one can log in. This scrambled screen is only a cosmetic problem, but it does
not fit the overall good design of the system. That's why I think it should be
fixed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1769322] Re: Trackpoint reacts jumpy and isn't precise when moved a short distance

2020-04-15 Thread snow
I see also this problem on my Thikpad T495 on Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04:

"The trackpoint reacts, especially if i want to move it only a small distance,
very jumpy and erratic.
It is very difficult to hit a precise spot on the screen because if I press
with very littel pressure the cursor doesn't move and with a little more it
makes a big jump."

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1733083] Re: trackpoint slow and hard to move

2020-04-15 Thread snow
>From my side I would like to add:

* On my Lenovo Thinkpad T495 the TrackPoint acceleration is not optimal
(compared to Win10)
* TrackPoint is hard to move and if you make it faster then the acceleration is
too fast
* Separate settings only for TrackPoint sensivity are missing
* My other machine is HP Elitebook 8570p. The TP is very slow there. Not really
fun to work with it, either
* It would be good it somebody coud look at it as I assume that the problem
exists at least on most of Thinkpads and HP machines with trackpoints and for
several years already
* I do not see it as a small "cosmetic" problem, but as a basic system seeting
allowing to use TrackPoint at all.

Meanwhile after some updates I manage to login even without power
supply. After that the screen is distorted and looks like this - s.
attachment. In the screen you see right a shadow - my taskbar. You can
only see the top bar of windows.

2020-04-14 Thread snow
I tested again. THis time I got the login screen and logged in then the screen
got distorted as the display manager would not work correctly. I did
"journalctl -b 0" and found also a crash file in var/crash/...
I attach both files here.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1872452] [NEW] Boot into black screen without power supply (Kubuntu on AMD / Thinkpad T495)

2020-04-13 Thread snow
Public bug reported:

Always when I turn on my Lenovo Thinkpad T495 (AMD CPU)- without the
power supply connected - the laptop boots correctly at the beginning,
but then just before going to the login screen it gets black. It can
only be restarted. When I attach the power supply before the laptop boot
everything works correctly. I see this behavior only on Kubuntu (with
KDE desktop). On Ubuntu 20.04 everything works fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 887933] Re: KDE taskbar (the bottom panel) doesn't respond occasionally

2013-03-15 Thread Peter Snow
Affects me using:

3.2.0-39-generic-pae #62-Ubuntu SMP Wed Feb 27 22:25:11 UTC 2013 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Unfortunately, can't confirm whether it will recover, since it's still
like it currently after about 15 minutes. Might need to reboot or maybe
restarting KDM might fix it.
