[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 636311] Re: Keyboard special keys interfere with mouse
Not sure if this is related to this bug or relevant, but Ubuntu also thinks that my Microsoft keyboard is a joystick. I reported a bug about it over a year ago and it has been confirmed (but not fixed yet) - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/390959 - and that tends to mess about with things like games. So Microsoft keyboards are now being picked up as a keyboard, mouse and joystick.. the joystick bug is persistent though, not just when a special key is used. -- Keyboard special keys interfere with mouse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/636311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 629196] [NEW] Changing volume with Microsoft keyboard - left click becomes permanently pressed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg If I use the keyboard shortcuts on the far left of the keyboard to change the volume, the mouse left click will become pressed down and will not reset itself. At that point I can only right click. I have to restart GDM to be able to use my PC again. The keyboard does continue to work though. Depending on what the mouse is hovering over at the time, any movements of the mouse will highlight things (like on the desktop, you can see the multiple files selector extending with the mouse). This problem only seems to have come up after the last few updates. I have a Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard and I'm running the latest Maverick with the official NVidia drivers. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 527149] Re: Karmic + NVIDIA cause screen flickering, X crashes and video playback problems
I was about to report a bug, but it looks like this is very similar to the issue I'm having. My screen will flicker randomly. Usually it's not very noticeable, but sometimes it is so bad that the computer is nearly unusable. The screen just flickers on and off. This also sometimes causes freezes. Usually only short hang ups, but occasionally it will freeze completely. I get the random crashes back to the login screen as well. The only difference is that I don't have the same problems with video playback. Although I do have this problem - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xvidcore/+bug/626560 I've had this problem since Lucid. I'm running Maverick now and it doesn't seem to have gotten any better. I'll attach an lspci output, but if you need any extra attachments then let me know. ** Attachment added: lspci.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/527149/+attachment/153/+files/lspci.txt -- Karmic + NVIDIA cause screen flickering, X crashes and video playback problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527149 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 449202] Re: Blank screen on bootup, karmic, nvidia card
I have two 19 LCD monitors attached by VGA (with DVI adaptors). I tried to boot into the daily live as well, and got the same problem I was having with the desktop, just ending up with a blank screen. I tried to re-install the drivers using Hardware Drivers, and was then able to use nvidia-settings to setup dual-monitors, but I cannot save the new configuration to xorg (I get error: Failed to parse existing X config file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'). Also I still cannot get 3D support. Also, if no graphics drivers are installed, I only boot into a flashing TTY screen. Which is impossible to use, because it flashes rapidly and doesn't respond well to typing. I had to boot into recovery mode, use telinit 3, then install drivers from there. (this doesn't work anymore since this problem started.) Lastly, holding down ctrl+alt+del will restart the PC if the screen goes blank, so it is still responsive, but for some reason unable to open the display. A new xorg.conf was generated when I installed the drivers from Hardware Drivers. Attached it to this comment: ** Attachment added: xorg.conf http://launchpadlibrarian.net/33493128/xorg.conf -- Blank screen on bootup, karmic, nvidia card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/449202 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 449202] [NEW] Blank screen on bootup, karmic, nvidia card
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg On latest version of Karmic, booting up will only take me as far as to show the glowing Ubuntu logo, then it'll move to a completely blank screen and do nothing. A semi-workaround is to rename xorg.conf, this allows Ubuntu to boot, but because NVidia generates its own custom xorg.conf file, I lose 3D support and dual-monitor support. Regenerating a new xorg with nvidia- xconfig takes me back to an un-bootable system. I have a GTX260 NVidia card.
