[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 884122] Re: xclock -digital shows seconds but redraws on the minute

2021-12-22 Thread themusicgod1
seems like a simple enough fix, at the end of the day: just change the
default timeout to something sensible

TFA above suggests that the change is related to 4.19, but the above
shows that 4.15 was also affected. Does this matter?

2017-12-13 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Gnome/Weyland locked up while I was using my web browser(pale moon
Version: 27.3.0 (64-bit)). I tried to Alt-Ctrl-F1 / Alt-Ctrl-F2 but was
just presented with a new login after what seemed like a few minutes of
the system being unresponsive. /sys/class/drm/card0/error was an empty
file when I went to check it.

Very similar to #1728474 (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1728474 ) and
#1730184 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1730184 )
, but unlike those it provided the following in syslog/kern.log:

ubuntu: 17.10 artful

gnome-shell: 3.26.2-0ubuntu0.1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1682544] [NEW] xkill doesn't grab pointer

2017-04-13 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

1.
> xkill

expected result:
a) output: "Select the window whose client you wish to kill with button 1..."
b) pointer turns to an X
c) you can click on a window
d) that window's process gets killed

what actually happens
a) output: "Select the window whose client you wish to kill with button 1..."
b) The pointer goes invisible, until you move it, then it goes to the normal
pointer.
...that's it.

there aren't really many stickers (?) -- it's kind of a frankencomputer.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1537124] [NEW] dual monitor setup half second screen does not display some programs

2016-01-22 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Same bug was present in Ubuntu 12.04 + unity (+/- compiz) for same
machine, upgrade to 14.04 and switch to openbox did not help. See
screenshot: gnome-terminal is cut in half. Any attempt to move it
further right and it does not display anything further right than that
line. Openbox dock is cut off in the same spot(though sometimes also
disappears entirely). Some other applications(eg xterm) do display to
the right of that line.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1522175] [NEW] horizontal bar visual artifacts around windows and on text

2015-12-02 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

On the first reboot after upgrade from vivid to wily, horizontal bars
surround windows, and scramble the text on terminal, as well as the
xfce4 menu bar. It is not the whole screen that gets these horizontal
bar artifacts, only particular windows, and only particular images in
particular windows. For example firefox is almost entirely clear,
except for the 'bookmarks' and other icons within it, and some jpegs
rendered within it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448116] Re: Pointer missing on login

2015-05-02 Thread themusicgod1
Because it was an intermittent problem it's unclear that I could tag one
way or another whether it's fixed. I have began with 4.1.0-040100rc1 --
I cannot reproduce so far, I will continue down the list, though to see
if I can reproduce with one of the earlier kernels, too.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448116] [NEW] Pointer missing on login

2015-04-24 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

When I login there is no pointer. I unplug my mouse replug
again...pointer appears. Has happened a half dozen times now, but not
every time. Might just be when I shut down after using the touchpad
(usually I have the touchpad disabled). This laptop has a touchpad and
an IBM mouse.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1441675] [NEW] screen brightness arrows no longer work after disconnecting external monitor

2015-04-08 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Noticed after disconnecting external monitor today that the Fn-Left and
Fn-Right keys, which normally
1) Trigger the display of a sun icon with a progress bar of the amount of
supposed brightness the screen is supposed to have
2) actually changes the amount of brightness that the screen is supposed to have

currently only does (1) (ie not (2)).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1439830] Re: invisible pointer on boot

2015-04-02 Thread themusicgod1
*I was able to right click and after a minute or two, the pointer
reappeared. There is a separate issue where the screen brightness
buttons do not work for a minute or two after boot...it seems like when
the screen brightness buttons worked, that's when the pointer became not
invisible.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1413021] [NEW] Pointer disappears when 'Activities' is clicked

2015-01-20 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

After logging in, if I click on either the Activities or the date or the
battery/wireless indicator, the pointer visually goes invisible. I can still
select things (if the 'invisible pointer' points to them), but the pointer
itself is not shown.
When I exit these menus(for example the Activities screen) the pointer
returns.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1323051] [NEW] Refresh problems after turning up resolution

2014-05-25 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Recently turned up the resolution on my 2nd monitor (IBM ThinkVision detected
as 'IBM France 17') up to 1280x1024 (5:4) counterclockwise (along with the
built in monitor at 1024x600) and now both my gnome-terminal and emacs24
session seem to take turns looking like the attempt to refresh their window
went bad(screenshot attached - see bottom right window, that should be a white
emacs window).

Typically these come when interacting with these windows, highlighting, right
clicking, etc. Resizing the windows seems to force a refresh.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 479641] Re: [i830] when memory runs low, xorg locks up and does not unlock when memory conditions improve

2010-04-09 Thread themusicgod1
I did test it in lucid but not either of the betas, or with this modeset
option. I'll see if I can try that later.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 479641] Re: when memory runs low, xorg locks up and does not unlock when memory conditions improve

2009-11-29 Thread themusicgod1
I tested this on the karmic, lucid, and debian sid/experimental versions of
xserver-xorg-video-intel and the problem remained. Installed debugging symbols
for xorg, and brought it up in gdb(in a 'normal' situation, ie when gdm first
loads, the backtrace had meaningful information, although not (yet) source
lines), and when the freeze occurs, all I get is

Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame()
#2 0x00e9f07 in ?? () from lib.so.6
#1 0x00f07ae3 in ?? () from lib.so.6
#0 0x00d01422 in ?? __kernel_vsyscall ()

It should be noted that this same hardware appears to not exhibit this
bug on debian stable where the i810 driver is used (it's an 830).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 479149] [NEW] xorg on launchpad suggests deprecated ubuntu-bug syntax

2009-11-09 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Fill out a bug report, click on the 'no I need to fill a new bug report'
button, and am greeted with a page containing:
prePlease report bugs against xorg with this command:
  $ ubuntu-bug -p xorg/pre
however

using them creates

prethemusicg...@codd:~$ ubuntu-bug -p xorg
Warning: The options -p/-P are deprecated, please do not use them. See
/usr/bin/ubuntu-bug --help/pre

Solution: probably just remove the -p from the guideline descriptions.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 479641] [NEW] when memory runs low, xorg locks up and does not unlock when memory conditions improve

2009-11-09 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I run low on memory, say, 20k or so remaining, xorg locks up
(doesn't respond to input at all, incl mouse movements/capslock). OK
that makes sense...but the problem is that once memory situation
improves (say, by me sshing from another computer to kill the process
that's taking up the memory, whether it be firefox, gnu electric, or
whathaveyou), xorg remains locked up, even if reniced to a more realtime
priority. It remains at 0% cpu usage, too, even while the system is
idle and I am giving it input via mouse/touchscreen.

Unlike the other reports on the intel drivers, Xorg is not using a
disproportionate amount of memory -- the amount of memory used is fine,
it is just not adjusting to memory conditions on the system.

Ubuntu Karmic / evtouch touchscreen / intel drivers probably from below

(also apologies that the attachments that were supposed to go towards
this bug report went to the last one -- had i known it was going to
attach all that stuff I would have just used the launchpad interface :)
