I have almost identical system with NuageBleu describing in post #431 and I got hard freezes with no other way than hard shutdown/reset.
I also use JetBrains software, Chrome and playing music when freeze happens. My system: Ubuntu 12.04 64bit (all updates installed) Desktop computer specifications: i7-3770K Intel HD 4000 (CPU with GPU, no discrete graphics) 16GB ram SSD No other OS installed.
