[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1063156] Re: (EE) [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.
Same here on Ubuntu 12.10 (64) with NVidia GT240 card with NVidia binary blob. Same problem on any desktop - KDe, Cinnamon, GNOME Shell. Same problem, indeed nothing can be done anymore except for using the SysRq magic keys to reboot the computer. It happens about half of the times for me when I leave my computer and come back after an hour. I noticed that it seems to help to lock the screen manually before leaving, but I am not sure of that yet. When the lockup has happened, the laptop's fan is running on full speed continuously. I attached the relevant part of my Xorg.o.log.old. It looks the same as the original reporter's, but it also contains the following: [ 7033.144] [mi] These backtraces from mieqEnqueue may point to a culprit higher up the stack. [ 7033.144] [mi] mieq is *NOT* the cause. It is a victim. [ 7122.618] [mi] EQ overflow continuing. 100 events have been dropped. Using Kubuntu 12.04 with the proprietary fglrx drivers.
