The lastest update also breaks my computer, which uses NVidia graphic card. I tried purging nvidia-prime and nvidia-331 ( or nvidia-319) and everything went to normal. Sorry for double commenting. I'm current using Ubunty 14.04 Development Branch. The regression also happened recently as said above. Are you using the proprietary video drivers (fglrx / fglrx-updates) ?
