[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1087122] Re: Xorg process is eating my CPU cores in Quantal 12.10

2014-01-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Adrien Lamothe, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg replace-with-bug-number

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1087122] Re: Xorg process is eating my CPU cores in Quantal 12.10

2012-12-29 Thread Dave Gilbert
Hi Adrien,
This can be rather difficult to find the cause of; I've seen it once on one
of my machine, and it turned out to be an application I was using that was
doing a lot to the X server for no good reason. (It was animating a little
icon but was trying to be too clever).

Run top and watch what is taking the cpu, then close each application and see
if it drops, to try and find out what is using
the cpu.

Dave
