[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1183437] Re: External display blinks [gallium, radeon, possible power method related]
Paweł Jarosz, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1183437] Re: External display blinks [gallium, radeon, possible power method related]
Since recent mesa and kernel update, problem is more obvious/annoying. Now on external display there is observable screen distortion right before or/and after this display goes black. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1183437 Title: External display blinks [gallium, radeon, possible power method related] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1183437/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

** Description changed: - External display randomly(?) blinks with open source radeon gallium driver on Ubuntu 13.04 64bit (also 12.04 64bit). - I tested it with two diffrent monitors and a tv. I think this bug is related to the energy-saving power profiles + External display randomly(?) blinks (it goes black for a second or two and then resumes :) ) with open source radeon gallium driver on Ubuntu 13.04 64bit (also 12.04 64bit). + I tested it with two diffrent monitors and a tv. - I observed that changong power profile to mid helps a lot. Blinks are - very rare but they still occur. On other profiles [default, auto, low, - high] blinks occur very often. + I think this bug is related to the energy-saving power profiles + I observed that changing power profile to mid helps a lot.
