2013-09-26 Thread Timo Aaltonen
nothing weird there with the performance, it'll fall back to software
rendering when not running as root

can you still reproduce this bug on current saucy?

What's more funny, when I execute startx as root (i.e. sudo startx),
then the performance is back to normal.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1202270] Re: At boot I'm taken to text terminal logon

2013-07-17 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
** Description changed:

  Hi,

- Whenever I boot my ubuntu, at the moment when splash wioth ubuntu logo
- should appear, I am taken to console login screen. When I log in and
- then do startx, Compiz loads, but without unity and the performance is
- poor. I can start unity from the terminal again, but the performance is
- still poor. Performance ggoes back to normal when I execute metacity
- --replace to switch compiz to metacity.
+ Whenever I boot my ubuntu, at the moment when splash with ubuntu logo
+ should appear, I am taken to text terminal login screen and asked for
+ credentials. When I log in and then do startx, Compiz loads, but without
+ unity shell and the performance is poor. I can start unity from the
+ gnome terminal (invoked with ctrl+alt+T because there's no launcher) and
+ it turns on, but the performance is still poor. Performance goes back to
+ normal when I execute metacity --replace to switch compiz to metacity.
