[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1237677] Re: In 13.10, internal laptop display no longer functioning in graphical mode after plugging into external projector

2014-01-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Christopher Barrington-Leigh, this bug was reported a while ago and
there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this
is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest
development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1237677] Re: In 13.10, internal laptop display no longer functioning in graphical mode after plugging into external projector

2013-10-14 Thread Flávio Martins
I am affected by this too. I found that if i reboot with the external
display connected both lvds and external display work.

However if i connect the external display after booting with only the
lvds screen: then on connection only the external display works.

I think this happened recently after the upgrade to driver version
2:2.99.904-0ubuntu1 and then ubuntu2.
It used to work correctly before, it think 903 worked but i'll have to test.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1237677] Re: In 13.10, internal laptop display no longer functioning in graphical mode after plugging into external projector

2013-10-14 Thread Flávio Martins
I just download and installed .903 and .904-0ubuntu1 in order testing in
between.
.903 works
.904-0ubuntu1 works

then i upgraded to .904ubuntu2 and it also worked fine. I think the
display configuration tool is getting confused, but installing a
previous version of the driver maybe forced it to create a valid
configuration?

The tool saves the configurations to ~/.config/monitors.xml if that
helps

Hmm, it is still being reported by xrandr, so all hope is not lost.

Can you try xrandr --output LVDS1 --preferred and see what happens?

2013-10-10 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Your command fixed the problem.!

It turned on the LVDS1 but not in a good configuration. The monitor
settings gui then allowed me to adjust things, without forcing the LVDS1
back off.

Thank you!
What next?

2013-10-10 Thread Chris Wilson
So I think this is just the display configuration tool getting confused,
the driver looks fine.

Does anyone know its package name so we can reassign this to the right
devs?

I spoke too soon. It happened again with an external projector, and
this time using your command brings both displays back, in an
overlapping configuration, but if I then try to adjust anything with the
monitors tool, it turns off my laptop display.
