I have installed 14.04 dev image (amd64) to a virtualbox install on the hardware that had the issue. The install was successful and the command was executed. There was a message that the swap was not ready. (i believe that the swap was encrypted during the original install.) I followed instructions to change the swap so it was not encrypted. Then the boot would display no signal on the reboot. I followed instructions to change the grub settings/params from quiet splash to nomodeset.
