Public bug reported:

I've noticed that the display is slow when I log into my user if my external
monitor is on. (I'm using a VGA cable.)
I've tested this by completely unplugging the VGA during boot (but plugging it
back in b4 login), but that didn't seem to work, so I logged out and logged in
without the VGA and the display seemed to be fine. Oh, when I say slow I mean
that I have a ton of apps in my "launcher", and when I move my mouse over the
launcher, the apps take a long time to "spread", as if my computer can only do
5 fps. Anyway, it's kind of annoying and I hoped you guys can fix it!
