[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1439860] Re: Gnome Flashback Metacity: Artifacts on all metacity windows
Brett Bogert, as per http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228=en=us=en_lang==427905#N5524 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (F.55). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-f.55 ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439860 Title: Gnome Flashback Metacity: Artifacts on all metacity windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1439860/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1439860] Re: Gnome Flashback Metacity: Artifacts on all metacity windows
A bit more info. I found that enabling the use dark variant in the terminal options make the problem disappear for the terminal. I then used Tweak Tool to enable the Global Dark option and the problem disappears altogether. I then disabled Global Dark option from the Tweak Tool and chose the Vertex-Dark theme and the problem re-appears. So in short enabling Global Dark in the Tweak Tool makes the problem disappear in all windows and enabling use dark variant in the terminal options makes the problem disappear for the terminal window only. Hope this helps narrow things down a bit. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439860 Title: Gnome Flashback Metacity: Artifacts on all metacity windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1439860/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
