[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1543872] Re: Desktop streched across both screens
In 16.04 the stretching issue is resolved. However, the display manager is still a bit buggy. It switched to mirrored displays when I tried to turn on both displays. However after exiting the manager and re-opening it. I was able to get both displays working correctly. Another issue is that the other display is a HDTV and I need to adjust the underscan on it. When I do that it also underscans the laptop's screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1543872 Title: Desktop streched across both screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1543872/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

sjp333: >"In 16.04 the stretching issue is resolved." Would you need a backport to a release prior to 16.04, or may this be closed as Status Invalid? >"However, the display manager is still a bit buggy. It switched... Another issue is..." These would be different problems for different reports. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1543872] Re: Desktop streched across both screens
sjp333, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5428369=8=4192 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.34). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-1.34 ** Description changed: - I have a intel laptop with a nvidia k2100m quadro GPU. Intel HD graphics controls the internal display and the nvidia card handles the display port out. When trying to utilize a dual monitor setup the output of the desktop looks like its been stretched across both displays. It appears like the resolution is very low and the mouse pointer is incorrectly calibrated with its location on the screen. The dual monitor setup is completely useless with this bug. I believe this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1382462 is the same issue filed way back in 2014. However, it was never resolved. This is a pretty big issue.
