Hi, I now found bug 556232 which matches my problem. With applying the there mentioned radeon.modeset=0 line in grub the problem is solved at the moment. Hi, I have an similar problem on Kubuntu 10.4. Each time I connect an external Monitor to my laptop (ati X1300 graphic board) and run xrandr --output LVDS --auto --output VGA-0 --auto --right-of LVDS the machine freezes at once. Same command was working fine on Kubuntu 9.10 to switch to dual screen usage. I'm running KDE4.1.1, using most of the default options. Whenever I plug an external monitor to the VGA port and run xrandr my system freezes. The same happens if I open krandrtray. The only log I can get is from dmesg by setting netconsole.
