[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 286028] Re: wacomcpl doesn't work when the stylus is configured by HAL (.fdi method)
Should now be fixed in lucid. At least, we no longer use hal, and wacom-tools has been replaced by a new driver, so the patch would need redone. ** Changed in: wacom-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- wacomcpl doesn't work when the stylus is configured by HAL (.fdi method) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286028 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to wacom-tools in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 286028] Re: wacomcpl doesn't work when the stylus is configured by HAL (.fdi method)
Wait, looks like sending this patch to upstream isn't needed. They already fixed this bug (in dev). I compiled linuxwacom-dev in my system and I noticed that xsetwacom returns and accepts device names with underscores instead of white spaces and wacomcpl just works well alongside it. The only minor bug in wacomcpl is how it deals with some special characters in device names, like / , \ and . So, for upstream, the only useful part of my patch is the one that fix it. -- wacomcpl doesn't work when the stylus is configured by HAL (.fdi method) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286028 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to wacom-tools in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

No problem. :) And, no, I didn't. I'll give it a try. It's also a good opportunity to break some long lines of code in my patch that I left as is (shame on me).
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 286028] Re: wacomcpl doesn't work when the stylus is configured by HAL (.fdi method)
Hi Ubuntu people. I'm using the stable version of linuxwacom (0.8.4-3) compiled with src/util/wacomcfg.c from linuxwacom-dev and it's working fine for xsetwacom. However, wacomcpl still doesn't deal with spaced names, so I wrote a patch for wacomcpl-exec to fix it. ** Attachment added: wacomcpl-exec.diff http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35751004/wacomcpl-exec.diff -- wacomcpl doesn't work when the stylus is configured by HAL (.fdi method) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/286028 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to wacom-tools in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thiago, thanks a lot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 286028] Re: wacomcpl doesn't work when the stylus is configured by HAL (.fdi method)
It's a patch, but it fixes the wrong problem. The bug is in wacomcpl, that's the program that should be patched. Going back to old style strings alleviates the problem for some users, but doesn't solve it long-term, since people can have different tablets plugged in at a time, and/or multiple tools for each tablets, and want to keep settings separate for them (going back would also prevent the whole stack from improving, since at least now there's no excuses for a graphic program not to allow separate options for separate pens/tools). Else we'd have stylus, cursor, eraser and pad by default, since it was trivial to fix by shipping a slightly different .fdi. Now if there's a wacomcpl patch, then that would be perfect (other applications already support the more precise strings used by default now by the linuxwacom drivers)! Else, other graphical configuration programs exists, the just need one or two more functions to become complete wacomcpl replacements.
