[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 363783] Re: [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty
I've tested the Karmic Alpha 2 Live CD and the white problem is now a black problem. After the S-Video cable attached to my laptop, configured the position of the 2 properly detected monitors in gnome-display- properties, updated automatically the xorg.conf with the respective virtual resolution and , finally, logout and login, the two displays (laptop and TV) were black. It's just possible to see the mouse arrow moving and a thin (1 pixel wide) line of the desktop in the left side of the laptop screen, all the rest of the desktop (laptop and TV) was black. If the option is mirror it works, the laptop changes to 1024x768, like the TV, and it seems the 3D effects are working. I couldn't test the video because there are no VLC in the repos. -- [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363783 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 363783] Re: [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty
Thanks for testing, can you please attach an Xorg.0.log from this failure case? black/blank screen issues tend to be more fundamental than white screen issues (they indicate failure to establish a video mode, whereas white usually indicates a compositing-related fault). ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363783 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 363783] Re: [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty
Desktop box with Intel D945GCLF2 exhibits similar behaviour: with mirror on everything works, mirror off works if either output is disabled but with both enabled both screens remain black except for mouse pointer. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 363783] Re: [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty
More with D945GCLF2: The default resolution chosen by the driver was 1152x864. Other resolutions work with mirror setup as well, but trying to turn mirror off with 1024x768 exhibited slightly different behaviour: the screens went blank for a moment, then returned (mirrored) with error: Could not apply the selected configuration Did not receive reply. Possible causes... Xorg.0.log is rather big after that, but I'll attach it anyway. And here's xrandr output (the monitor connected to VGA is actually 1280x1024): Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 2048 x 2048 VGA connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1360x768 59.8 1152x864 60.0 1024x768 60.0* 800x60060.3 640x48059.9 TV-1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1600x1024 60.2 1280x1024 60.0 1280x1...@60.00 60.0 1440x900 59.9 1280x960 60.0 1360x768 59.8 1152x864 60.0 1024x768 60.0* 1024x...@60.00 60.0 920x...@60.00 60.0 832x...@60.00 60.0 800x60060.3 800x...@60.00 60.0 720x...@60.00 60.0 704x...@60.00 60.0 720x...@60.00 60.0 720x...@60.00 60.0 640x48059.9 ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28468402/Xorg.0.log -- [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363783 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 363783] Re: [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty
More experiments: non-mirrored setup works if combined resolution is small enough that it works with default xorg.conf (without Virtual entry). E.g., 1152x864 on VGA and 800x600 on TVout works fine. Xorg.0.log reflecting this situation attached. ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28468564/Xorg.0.log -- [i945] TV-out don't work with intel 945GM and Compiz in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363783 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
