got one, but for some reason unknown, the mkdir command wouldn't work properly in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze so the data is in the wrong directory Route to production Boot (kernel -10) switch to gdm debug mode via tty4 suspend resume At this point compiz has failed to resume correctly, and I have no visible borders or bars on any app, but they still exist to click on firefox b3ta (firefox but no title bar launch terminal visible on task bar, but not on screen (from prev events can type into invisible screen fine) click 3-4 times on terminal in task bar in attempt to make visible complete x freeze + intermittent screen corruption over what could be interpreted as the area that could be occupied by the terminals task bar. go to desktop to recover data via ssh ** Attachment added: dri_debug-20090912.tgz http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31690951/dri_debug-20090912.tgz -- intel: resume from suspend causes problems and freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420406 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 420406] Re: intel: resume from suspend causes problems and freeze
Moving to -intel since unless there is specific evidence it's a libdrm issue, it's better just to keep all these freeze bugs together. Btw, we still need either a) steps to reproduce, or b) a batchbuffer dump, before this bug can be examined by developers. See http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze for more info. ** Package changed: libdrm (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) -- intel: resume from suspend causes problems and freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420406 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 420406] Re: intel: resume from suspend causes problems and freeze
It seems I have similar problems on my HP6930p despite I am not sure it is the same thing. About a week ago, all used to work fine. Now, after an update of the system to the latest version, if I suspend and resume, the screen seems OK for a second while I still see the dialog box with the reboot/suspend/hibernate buttons (which was used for suspending the machine). Then this dialog disappears, but also the frames of the windows disappear, and---interestingly---also all terminal windows disappear (though they still remain listed at the bottom of the screen). compiz is still running but it is in some strange mood: Sometimes my mouse works (despite not always) and if I click to the place where the frame should be, I can get the menu for moving a window, etc. Sometimes I manage to resolve the situation by manually killing compiz.real and compiz-decorator from a console and by starting compiz.real with the same parameters with which it is listed by ps ax before killing it. Sometimes, however, this does not work or leads to some strange troubles later (the number of workspaces decreases, the tapping with touchpad gets disabled, the system freezes completely after a while). -- intel: resume from suspend causes problems and freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420406 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 420406] Re: intel: resume from suspend causes problems and freeze
It appears for me the problems only occur if compiz / visual effects are enabled. Without suspend / resume is flawless With I get about 60 seconds to gdm restart or I get a system freeze followed by manual fsck after hard reset.
