I think I am experiencing the same issue. Again Dell Inspiron 1501 with ati 200m card and ubuntu jaunty. The external monitor is hp 1955 with native resolution 1280x1...@60. The flickering edges are horizontal and vary in length from one to [approx'] eight pixels.
