Running Karmic final and this issue has not been fixed. This wasn't an issue in 9.04. I don't think issue #289728 is a duplicate. I am running xinerama + nvidia v185 drivers. The issue takes a few hours to manifest itself. Correct; the screen does a proper power off (as does the external monitor) followed by powering back on in response to user input for about twelve hours after the X session is started. Once the problem begins, the only way to restore the correct screen power off behaviour is to completely restart the X session (sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart).
