[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460478] Re: X crash on start (Xubuntu)
I tested this bug on Lucid again: I changed /etc/X11/xorg.conf entries back to Option SWcursor false # [bool] Option HWcursor true # [bool] again. The bug doesn't occur anymore. [This is an automatic notification.] Hi Goatsly, This bug was reported against an earlier version of Ubuntu, can you test if it still occurs on Lucid? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460478] Re: X crash on start (Xubuntu)
I experienced the same problem: Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server intermittently on Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit running as a guest machine on VMware 7.0.1, w/tools 8.1.4 build-227600. Adding: Section Device Option HWcursor false Option SWcursor true Driver vmware . . . EndSection , to /etc/X11/xorg.conf corrected the problem. I generated the base xorg.conf with Xorg -configure. The problem, in this case anyway, isn't specific to Nvidia cards. -- X crash on start (Xubuntu) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460478] Re: X crash on start (Xubuntu)
I have the same problem as the original submitter. I am running Mythbuntu 9.10 (with xfce4) and have gdm setup to login automatically. Unfortunately, the login fails with the Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server messages in .xsession-errors. If I then retry the login a few times, the login will eventually succeed and everything seems to be working as it should. After a successful login, there are no Fatal IO error messages in .xsession-errors. After an unsuccessful attempt, I also found the following in Xorg.0.log: (II) intel(0): EDID for output TV1 (II) intel(0): Allocate new frame buffer 1024x768 stride 1024 Backtrace: 0: /usr/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x3b) [0x8133d6b] 1: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x55) [0x80c7d35] 2: [0xfcf400] 3: /usr/bin/X [0x81132c6] 4: /usr/bin/X [0x8123a62] 5: /usr/bin/X [0x80f99f0] 6: /usr/bin/X [0x80f74ee] 7: /usr/bin/X(RRScreenSizeSet+0x6c) [0x816848c] 8: /usr/bin/X(ProcRRSetScreenConfig+0x472) [0x8168c32] 9: /usr/bin/X [0x8160cd5] 10: /usr/bin/X(Dispatch+0x35f) [0x808d17f] 11: /usr/bin/X(main+0x395) [0x8072515] 12: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xe6) [0x1d5b56] 13: /usr/bin/X [0x80719c1] Saw signal 11.
