[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 472271] Re: [i965] X crashes often after upgrade to karmic on Gateway P-series with GM965/GL960 IGC
We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/472271 Title: [i965] X crashes often after upgrade to karmic on Gateway P-series with GM965/GL960 IGC ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 472271] Re: [i965] X crashes often after upgrade to karmic on Gateway P-series with GM965/GL960 IGC
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg Since upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic two days ago, I have had about 10 crashes of X. Most of the time X restarted on its own and I only lost my open application sessions. One time X crashed and did not recover. After killing and restarting X I was no longer able to make a wireless connection and had to reboot. The time from boot or X restart to the next crash varied from about 10 minutes to more than 12 hours. There did not appear to be any crashes while I was away from the keyboard. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 472271] Re: [i965] X crashes often after upgrade to karmic on Gateway P-series with GM965/GL960 IGC
The immediate problem (at least with regard to AisleRiot induced crashes) has been fixed by a patch to libgtk, as referenced in bug #450832. I can confirm that after this update the apparent growth of memory assigned to cache in System Monitor while running AisleRiot is gone and I infer from that that the crashing problem on my Gateway P-series is gone too. However, as several others have commented in other duplicates and related bug reports, there is still a question of whether a bug in libgtk should have been able to cause a segfault in xorg-server itself. I will leave that question to be answered by more experienced developers and testers. -- [i965] X crashes often after upgrade to karmic on Gateway P-series with GM965/GL960 IGC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/472271 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 472271] Re: [i965] X crashes often after upgrade to karmic on Gateway P-series with GM965/GL960 IGC
It appears that bug 465317, of which this was marked as a duplicate, is in turn a duplicate of bug 450832. These two bugs have to do with AisleRiot solitaire. The original poster of this bug did not explain what he was doing at the time of logout. If he was playing AisleRiot, then this is probably also a duplicate of 450832. Otherwise, it could be another bug. I've removed the duplicate marking for the time being. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 465317 Xorg assert failure: X: ../../src/i830_batchbuffer.h:79: intel_batch_emit_dword: Assertion `pI830-batch_ptr != ((void *)0)' failed.
