[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 478859] Re: [i945gm] Multiple monitors not supported

2013-02-15 Thread Chris Wilson
It's an inherent limitation of your hardware that Unity is unable to
cope with, but non-GL based compositors or a vanilla desktop were.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 478859] Re: [i945GM] Multiple monitors not supported

2010-02-20 Thread Brandon Frohs
Clone works upon Logging In.

If you Log In without being connected to the second monitor, you will
not be able to use the second monitor for that session.

Logging Out and Logging In again will allow you to use the second
monitor.

Switching Users (not logging out) and switching back to the first
account will NOT allow you to use the second monitor. You can, however,
use the second monitor on any other account (and the login screen).

In short: Can only use monitors that are connected at the time of Login.

Disconnecting (after login) and reconnecting at a later time (without logging
out) does not prevent you from using the second monitor. Sometimes, however,
the mouse is stuck in the same place (wherever it was when you disconnected) on
the second monitor (does not affect the first monitor - at least in my case).

Not sure if any of that will help - hope it does though.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 478859] Re: [i945GM] Multiple monitors not supported

2010-02-09 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xorg

I am using an IBM Thinkpad R60 with Intel Integrated Graphics. Upon
plugging in my second monitor (LCD TV), both my laptop's monitor and the
TV go black... the mouse can be seen on the left side of the TV (to the
right of my laptop's monitor)... but I cannot move the mouse.

If I boot Ubuntu 9.10 with the monitor already plugged in, the 'Mirror'
functionality works, but when I go to System Preferences Display,
both screens turn black (exactly the same as when I plug in the second
  monitor).

I was able to use my second monitor as an extension of my current
desktop with 9.04 with only small bugs here and there.

Booting with monitor connected make clone mode work. Switching to
dualscreen results in the same black screen.
