You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: kdm
My configuration: - Kubuntu Karmic - KDM, KDE - NVidia driviers (proprietary) Since an update that I made a couple of weeks ago, the system has not been able to startup properly: - Rarely: everything is fine and KDE is started - Often: I get a "low graphic mode" dialog after the first boot phase (the low graphic mode is displaty when KDM is loaded I think) - Very Often: I get a blank sreen and I can't do anything (seems frozen, even CTRL+ALT+F1 doesn't always display the terminal) After searching in the forums, it seems that this is a frequent problem: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8320709 (except that the solution that would be to install the latest kernel didn't solve the problem for me) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8344549 http://ubuntu-ky.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1315126 Replacing using GDM instead of KDM worked for me (and I think that I'm not the only one). So I think that this is a KDM bug. Moreover it worked fine before the upgrade. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Karmic + KDM + NVidia = Can't boot (low graphic mode) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/485651 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
