original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to
reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 490031] Re: Radeon 9250 no 3D.

2011-04-28 Thread bugbot
This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.

udev does not (and will not ever) enforce module loading orders. The
kernel may do that by dependencies between modules, or other packages
can use blacklists to prevent one from being loaded, etc.

This is my dmesg from today with no changes at all.
As you can see DRM gets loaded before the agpgart module, and there is a line
further up above about AGP but that is about the agp bus that gets found.

So before I try the mainline kernel I want to know wath you think of
this.

This log looks clearly wrong in that agp is loaded too late. This bug
might be some udev configuration bug.
I don't know how to configure udev so can't help there.

You should see Loading R200 Microcode in dmesg when radeon module is
loading correctly.

This is my dmesg from today with no changes at all.

No point testing mainline kernel until module loading is fixed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 490031] Re: Radeon 9250 no 3D.

2010-02-15 Thread Walter Kerkhofs
Today I think I found the problem, and maybe the solution to.
After some Googling for agpgart I found that my agpgart module gets loaded
after the DRI module.
While it has to be the otherway around.

Can I solve this by putting an entry for the agpgart module in
/etc/modules ?

Please let me know what you think.

What is the right name for this module when I use the Radeon driver ?

Thanks in advance,

Walter Kerkhofs

It might not be early enough to load the module from /etc/modules. udev should
handle the agp loading.

At least your agp module is loaded early enough in your original dmesg.
But radeon module initialization is silently failing.

Can you try mainline kernel ppa to check if that kernel works for you?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 490031] Re: Radeon 9250 no 3D.

2009-12-09 Thread Macarena
hi guys,

I'm don't understand so much, but I wanna help how I can since this bug affects
me too.
I'm using the same video card, and it only cracks on resolution 1280x1024 or
bigger.
I'm using 1280 x 960 and it looks fine, but compiz is really slow.
I'm attaching my x.org.conf. Interesting is: it was automatically generated by
Gusty Gibbon (7.10). On Jaunty (9.04), It wasn't generated automatically, but
when I paste the gusty xorg.conf, it works fine even on 1400x1050 resolution.
So we have both problems: 1 - the black desktop on karmic; 2 - no more
automatic configuration of xorg.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 490031] Re: Radeon 9250 no 3D.

2009-12-03 Thread Walter Kerkhofs
I don't think so, I did not change anything in the BIOS.

After I installed the updates for KDE 4.3.4 and rebooted, I landed in
the console so I did:

Start x

and Gnome started up, so I booted the rescue system and edited the xorg.conf
file by hand with Joe.
I changed the driver too Radeon, and rebooted again.
This time I had to chose the console and KDE started up fine.

In the past I had also put the AGPmode option in this file, but when I tried
this I landed in a black screen.
In Jaunty the xorg.conf file was empty, and 3D with compiz worked just fine.

Greetings

Walter Kerkhofs

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 490031] Re: Radeon 9250 no 3D.

2009-11-30 Thread Walter Kerkhofs
Some more information that I forgot to give.

Just after the release of 9.10 Karmic I found that this card still is suported
by the fglrx driver, so I installed fglrx and made the change in the
/etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
After the reboot everything worked fine, but my Internet conection was gone.
So I removed everything with the name fglrx from my system in Synaptic, and
changed my xorg.conf back like it was before.

Also I have all the codecs installed including flash, but I still can
not watch flash movies.

My favorite game is Foobillard, but it runs very slow now.

Thanks in advance.
