[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 507813] Re: [i945gme] Xorg crash on an idle netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing
Upgraded my kernel to 2.6.32-10-generic #14-Ubuntu SMP. Also xserver- xorg-input-evdev got upgraded to 1:2.3.2-3 yesterday. Now the symptoms changed a little bit (so far only one freeze after the upgrade): When I hit Alt-SysRq-K after the freeze, I got a hard lock-up with a frozen mouse cursor on a black screen. All SysRq keys non-functional, had to power off. Also, for some reason time offsets are now missing from /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old: (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-17A65304EB1C7E1E981E40EF0F1F724A1C2CEC3A.xkm (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-17A65304EB1C7E1E981E40EF0F1F724A1C2CEC3A.xkm [mi] EQ overflowing. It looks like my problem is a different bug so I'm going to open a new one. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 507813] Re: [i945gme] Xorg crash on an idle netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing
I verified that the crash/freeze occurs also when Gnome-Do is not running. I initially suspected it could be the cause since the symptom appeared shortly after I started using Gnome-Do, but today it happened without it. Also, this also happens when the computer is not idle for an extended time. Once yesterday and once this morning while using the browser actively. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = New -- [i945gme] Xorg crash on an idle netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 507813] Re: [i945gme] Xorg crash on an idle netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing
Geir, I'm unsure if this is a crash or a freeze. The https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze page is confusing: It claims that a backtrace is a non-symptom, but lists [mi] EQ overflowing and X freeze as a relevant problem. In this case I'm getting both a backtrace and [mi] EQ overflowing. -- [i945gme] Xorg crash on an idle netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 507813] Re: [i945gme] Xorg crash on an idle netbook (Intel video): [mi] EQ overflowing
Just happened again on the same netbook I originally reported about. I left it idle for about 50 minutes. When I returned, I launched two short scripts with Gnome-Do and then tried to interact with Google Calendar which was open on the screen. Same symptoms: mouse does move the cursor, but clicks and keypresses don't work. What can I do to help? Try another kernel? Xorg-edgers? Enable some debugging? Here's what I have in Xorg.0.log.old this time (very similar to the original report): [4.261349] (II) intel(0): Allocate new frame buffer 2304x1024 stride 4096 [16053.373361] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [17604.404304] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [18024.045273] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [18867.025313] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [18916.719279] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [20287.880726] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [20293.022484] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [20703.308575] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [21076.152276] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [21497.107396] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [21535.265384] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [23279.885879] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [24075.847622] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [24177.042877] (II) XKB: reuse xkmfile /var/lib/xkb/server-F30D752BAEAAD4B8C79BE2C421539A0D3700902C.xkm [mi] EQ overflowing. I have been getting random drm-related lockups with ubuntu's kernel. So far with mainline 2.6.32-02063203-generic there have been no lockups suggesting that this behavior might be ubuntu-related.
