Ok, thanks, I'm not sure what would have fixed it either, but I'll go
ahead and mark it such.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559603] Re: [10.04 regression] user switch leaves original session unusable

2011-04-27 Thread bugbot
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xorg

The switch user function worked fine in 9.10 but does not work in 10.04 beta.
The session for the user switched to is ok, but you cannot switch back,
neither via shutdown menu nor using ctrl+alt+f? hotkeys.
Even the text consoles are broken after you switched user once (they work
when just one user is logged in).

  To reproduce:

  1) switch to some other user using the shutdown menu
  2) try to switch back

result: screen stays black, but you can reactive the switched to user
session by ctrl+alt+f? hotkey, text consoles stay black as well
expected result: resume the session of the original user, text consoles
still usable.

I have the same problem (intel graphics card). Apparently it's a matter
of drivers (see
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9361960#post9361960).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559603] Re: [10.04 regression] user switch leaves original session unusable

2010-05-26 Thread Lee G.
Any comments from the maintainer on this serious regression? From post
#4 by Anatol I deduce that this may not be an xserver-xorg-video-intel
driver bug, but maybe a kernel bug or xorg bug.

I have ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO if to be correct.

I am eager to provide any additional information if it helps you to
identify and fix the problem. Are there any debug tools for such case,
any logs that may be helpful to you?

I also have this problem. I switch users quite a lot so this bug is
having a serious effect on the usability of ubuntu. Is there anyone
working to fix this bug?

I have the same problem with beta2. Lucid is unusable if you have more
that 1 user on the computer.

Is any ETA when this bug will be fixed? Do you need any additional
information from me?
