[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576336] Re: [gm45] VT switch causes X session to be lost
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I logged in with GDM, and pressed ctrl-alt-F1 to access a text console (which was successful). When I tried to switch VT back to the X session I saw the screen flicker and after a few seconds the GDM login screen appeared. The X session was lost. What I expected: to be able to switch back from the text console to the X session. What happened instead: the X session was finished and I had to log in again. The last few lines from Xorg.0.log were: (II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch (II) Open ACPI successful (/var/run/acpid.socket) (II) AIGLX: Resuming AIGLX clients after VT switch (II) intel(0): No memory allocations Fatal server error: Failed to submit batchbuffer: Bad file descriptor This is Lucid 10.04 with all updates as of today (6 May 2010). The xserver-xorg and xorg packages are 1:7.5+5ubuntu1. From Xorg.0.log.old: (II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch (II) Open ACPI successful (/var/run/acpid.socket) (II) AIGLX: Resuming AIGLX clients after VT switch (II) intel(0): No memory allocations Fatal server error: Failed to submit batchbuffer: Bad file descriptor ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: xserver-xorg 1:7.5+5ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu May 6 11:33:30 2010 DkmsStatus: bcmwl, 5.60.48.36+bdcom, 2.6.32-22-generic, x86_64: installed bcmwl, 5.60.48.36+bdcom, 2.6.32-21-generic, x86_64: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx - Beta amd64 (20100318) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576336] Re: [gm45] VT switch causes X session to be lost
While I experienced this or symptomatically equal bug with the same GPU in the past, it has been fixed for me on 10.04 for several months, and does not occur (and has never occurred) on 10.10. I can't tell about earlier Ubuntu releases which are still supported. -- [gm45] VT switch causes X session to be lost https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576336 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576336] Re: [gm45] VT switch causes X session to be lost
I am seeing this issue. I also see the issue in bug #663159 which causes a logout when switching users, with the same error in xorg log so the two may be related, or have the same underlying cause.
