sorry for replying late: I didn't have the corruption lately as I switched to the old gnome window manager. Now, when running Unity I can't reproduce the 'disappeared' panel, but it is now constantly 'semi- transparent'. Sounds very similar to bug 769957 but the steps to reproduce are different. Does the corruption for this bug look the same as when you reproduce 769957? Can you provide a screenshot? I think this is not a nvidia related bug.
