Not only has edge scrolling never been the default on Mac OS, it hasn't even been an option. It wouldn't really even make sense on the Magic Trackpad, firstly because it's so wide, and secondly because your finger would constantly be at risk of falling off the edge onto the desk. I'm not an expert on Windows trackpads. It may well be that they are so much smaller that edge scrolling makes more sense there. I would also like to add that it has been like this for a real long time on ubuntu for some reason. I have tested Fedora 15 just now and selecting those options within gcc make it work straight out of the box. Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. This is not necessarily a bug because the default scrolling for linux is edge scrolling, which I agree, is less common. You have to change the setting at least once.
