[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 850923] Re: Two-finger scrolling is off by default

2011-10-10 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Not only has edge scrolling never been the default on Mac OS, it hasn't
even been an option. It wouldn't really even make sense on the Magic
Trackpad, firstly because it's so wide, and secondly because your finger
would constantly be at risk of falling off the edge onto the desk.

I'm not an expert on Windows trackpads. It may well be that they are so
much smaller that edge scrolling makes more sense there.

This problem was reported again in bug 861446 for MacBooks specifically.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 850923] Re: Two-finger scrolling is off by default

2011-09-30 Thread Nathanel Titane
I would also like to add that it has been like this for a real long time
on ubuntu for some reason.

I have tested Fedora 15 just now and selecting those options within gcc
make it work straight out of the box.

In my case (HPg60 468CA), i have a fix at startup to emulate and enable
such a feature while it should normally work straight up.

2011-09-20 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
As far as I can tell you're just restating the bug report. I know the
default is edge scrolling. That's why I'm proposing it be changed.

And what does less common mean? It's what windows uses, as far as I
know.

Are you suggesting it to be changed for multitouch-aware touchpads? Not
all of them are.

2011-09-15 Thread Adam Warren
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. This is not
necessarily a bug because the default scrolling for linux is edge
scrolling, which I agree, is less common. You have to change the setting
at least once. Please continue to report bugs you may have.
