I have the same problem. Thinkpad t 500, fresh ubuntu 12.04 install. After 'aptitude install fglrx-updates fglrx-amdcccle-updates' the laptop does not shutdown. Same problems here with My Ubuntu 12.04 box (amd64/Linux 3.2.0-24-generic), pictures of the system shutdown outputs are attached. Sometimes Ubuntu shows the low-res boot screen without the dots moving (forever). But when my ubuntu box showed the screen that you attached when shutting down, it doesn't take forever. Did this : apport-collect 995184 And I Googled a bunch of workarounds for the ugly boot screen.
