[Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1769654] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 embedded fonts Liberation have corrupted metrics
I am using LibreOffice-Writer 1:6.0.3-0ubuntu1 on Lubuntu Next 18.04, and found when opening a previously-created document, that the pages did not line up. Searching for LO-W bugs that referenced line-spacing, eventually led me to the original reporter's bug, and then to the debian bug report that you list in comment #5: (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=898116) where they reported that the bug had been: "Fixed in version fonts-liberation/1:1.07.4-6" The version I had was 1:1.07.4-5, just as the original reporter. So, I snagged the "cosmic" package* (not yet available for "bionic") and tried it, and it definitely solves my problem. *see: https://packages.ubuntu.com/cosmic/all/fonts-liberation/download and (probably) follow the advice at the top: add the deb line to your repository list (selecting an appropriate URI mirror site for your area). I suppose that it will be available for bionic, soon, but needed it sooner... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Studio Bugs, which is subscribed to fonts-liberation in Ubuntu. This issue leads to all office documents typed in Liberation Sans fonts have corrupted formatting in Ubuntu 18.04 (but these documents correctly opened in other OS's, for example Ubuntu 17.10). Documents with corrupted formatting can not print properly: all paragraphs are shifted up, embedded tables in text - splitted on page breaks. Document circulation in system based on Ubuntu 18.04 operating systems temporarily paralized, because Liberation fonts are basic fonts for open-source document circulation. In attachment I have type a example office document with 2 pages and enumerated strings. On normal ordinary conditions this document have 54 strings on first page and 54 string on second page. But if this document open in Ubuntu 18.04, it's found than 5 strings from second page moves to first page. Compare font versions embedded with Ubuntu packages we can see that versions are different (sudo apr search fonts-liberation* command): Ubuntu 17.10 - 1:1.07.4-2, 2.00.1-3 Ubuntu 18.04 - 1:1.07.4-5, 2.00.1-5 I have create a bug 117411 "Font metrics slightly changed after update OS to Ubuntu 18.04", see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117411, but I think that this bug concerns a Ubuntu/Xubuntu 18.04 package. [Ubuntustudio-bugs] [Bug 1773346] [NEW] Selected track nto always advanced on deletion
Public bug reported: Something has changed between the Audacious used in Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04. When deleting a track, with the "Advance when current song deleted" option set to true, the track selected by the cursor always used to advance to the next (now playing) track. It no longer does this, or rather does it only intermittently. This is rather annoying when sorting through large lists of music submitted to me or trying to make a short list of samples to then work on later! ** Affects: audacious (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Studio Bugs, which is subscribed to audacious in Ubuntu. The Layers/Channels/Paths/Undo/Brushes/Patterns/Gradients combined dock ( Whew! - is there a shorter name for this initially standard opening combo dock?) was so far to the right on my screen that I had to snag it with Alt-Drag (see screenshot). I am using the proprietary NVidia 304 package (which I have been automatically installing since (so far) Nouveau always manages to crash something I try to use; I have not actually tried it yet with the new Lubuntu, I suppose I ought to try one day...), and my monitor is set to a resolution of 1792x1344 (where DO they get these wierd coordinates?) Since GIMP remembers window placement between sessions, and I moved the window/dock so that it was entirely visible, this is obviously no longer a problem, but it would look bad for a new user of GIMP, and not everyone knows about Alt-Drag to lasso straying windows... - scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ uname -a Linux scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS 4.10.0-19-generic #21-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 6 17:04:57 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ lsb_release -dsc Ubuntu 17.04 zesty scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION Lubuntu scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ gimp --version GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.8.20 --- If there is any other info that would help, let me know... -Scott === " Michael Schumacher [GIMP developer] " was curious if this was a Lubuntu- or Ubuntu-only bug, as he had not encountered it. I was going to report it at https://bugs.launchpad.net/lubuntu/+filebug but the only "Project:"s that one can select are "Lubuntu Artwork", "... Software Center", "... next", "... Tweaks", "LxFind", and "LxScreenshot", in none of whose categories GIMP belongs, so I am "ubuntu-bug"ing it here... If any Ubuntu or Lubuntu users have either experienced this, or want to install it and see if it happens for them, Michael and I (and probably others) would be interested in knowing about it.
