Ok, I scanned through the codes and somehow, I figured how to install this search. 
However, when I search, it does not produce any search results except for an empty 
page..
why?

History has 3.1.10 mentioned while Download only lists 3.1.9? Also does current php

It will be available at Monday, 12 February

Current frontend - no. But we working at mnogosearch extension for php. we expect that 
php-4.0.5 will include this extension. 
After it will be released i will release new frontend that uses this
php extension ant it will have all capabilities of mnogosearch library including cache 
mode, substring search, phrase search and others.

Probably you did not set correct DBAddr and DBType in search frontend.
