Please check the release plan an post comment if it works for you. We
have 3 weeks left for bug fixing before we start testing.
The release version number will be 2.2.2. I have renamed the current
2.3 release version to 2.2.2 and created a new 2.3 release version.

Please review all open issues and add the fix version 2.2.2 to all
issues that should be fixed for the bugfix release 2.2.2.

OASIS UIMA Standard Update

2008-02-19 Thread Adam Lally
FYI - the OASIS UIMA TC has posted a set of slides that summarize the
different aspects of the UIMA standard. You may be interested to
check it out:
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/27169/OASIS_UIMA_Spec_Overview_v18_Votable.pdf

I've also posted a few slides explaining the impact on Apache UIMA,
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/27252/Impact_On_Apache_UIMA.ppt

Basically, I think it should be possible to comply at the most basic
level by implementing a new service wrapper in Apache UIMA and doing
appropriate data transformations in there. Then we (the Apache UIMA
developers) will have to decide whether to adopt any of the data
formats at a deeper level - for example, supporting a new descriptor
format that directly uses the OASIS UIMA standard metadata
representations (such as Ecore type systems).

Regards,
  -Adam

PEAR component verification does not work for CustomResourceSpecifiers

2008-02-19 Thread Michael Baessler
If a PEAR file is installed, after the installation an installation
verification is done.
During the verification the component type of the descriptor is tested
to check

how the verification must be done. If the main component descriptor is a
CustomResourceSpecifier the verification fails in any case. There is no
code that

checks that kind of specifier.

But how can we check that, it may be possible that the custom resource
implements
an AE but I think it needn't. So how does the framework handle these
kind of resources?
