Re: [UlsterAncestry] Some genealogy news

2022-04-25 Thread Sharon Brown

Thanks Teena.

The Grenham article was particularly enlightening. Thanks also - as
always- for all that you do. These days,  I am like a truffle pig
focused on a species of underground mushrooms called JACKSON. Recently,
I have zeroed in on Armagh, but some of them have underground mycelium
with tendrils that reach into Tyrone.

Re: [UlsterAncestry] Email list bounce messages

2021-05-30 Thread Sharon Brown
Thanks Tammy for all the behind the scenes - and essential - work that
you and Tina do. I am soon going to do a bit more about those OLIVERs
connected to my OLIVERs who flowed from Armagh to Tyrone in the late
1700s, early 1800s.

A week ago, I did a talk about my Eliza OLIVER for the North Armagh
Historical Society, and although there is nothing about Tyrone in it,
how Eliza describes her life in her letters may be of interest. She was
a farmer's wife, one who eventually did quite well.

Not to worry. I'm trying to get the messages flowing as they usually
do. I've noted today, that there have not been any bounce messages

Thank you for your understanding, while we work through this.

Hi Tina,

No doubt you checked this, but just in case, this page shows the
townlands surrounding Aghintain, and you could work out from there.

Good luck, Sharon

Environs of Aghintain Co.Tyrone

While compiling this document, I realize that I do not know, exactly
which townlands, are within the 'Environs of Aghintain' Co.Tyrone. I
have attempted to discover what they are, but I'm afraid I did not
find that information. It seems that Losset, may be one of them. (from
the photograph of Kenneth Allen!)

The same thing happened to me while compiling the 'Brantry District'
document, and on that one, I simply used a map. (and I highly doubt it
is 100% complete, or accurate)

I have never (yet) been to Ulster, nor Co. Tyrone, and defining some
of the districts & areas can be very difficult when afar.

If anyone can help me, to include and update this information in these
documents, I would really appreciate it.

There is also mention of a Mr O'BRIENE having composed an 'ode' for an
event for Aughentaine in 1863, said to have contained much of the
history of the area. I've been unable to discover this.

Thank you!
