you could use the cert.pl file included with unattended (should reside
in the bin directory) but that doesn't work for me. I use this one-liner
todo.pl "certmgr /add /c /v %Z%\site\cacert.cer /s /r localMachine root"

certmgr is a tool which is part of the support tools you can find it on
the Microsoft network somewhere.

Actually you don't have to specify the path in your database. It should
be found by the install.pl itself. During the first initial fase just
after the OS selection it should mention a line scanning for drivers.

You could check the existence of the OemPnPDriversPath = "" directive in
the created unattended.txt in c:\netinst

Unfortunately when you need the drivers, at stage t-12 and later on
there is no workstation services started yet, so you won't have a
network share at hand.

What you could use is the presetup.cmd from btsunattended and put them
on a CD which boot order is set to boot from harddisk by default.

That could be so if you have autolog.pl set to 0 at the end of base.bat;
then no other script can be executed.

If that won't help then check if ActivePerl gets installed.

Normally you use middle sections for the installation that are to be
done and that is in unattended.txt in the site dir.

Afterwards you end up with bottom section but afaik after all is done
the autolog.pl is automatically issued.

If it is a .cvs* probably a .cvsignore then it is of no importance.

I don't know which other file it could be else, so you could assume it
is useless.

Another solution would be to use an Unattended DVD. There is a work in
progress for a complete DVD and it was mentioned on the list earlier.

[quote]
   I've just committed patches (mine and Moritz Engel) for installing
unattended completely from DVD. I've also made FreeDOS based bootdisk
for it
It's here http://ekot.narod.ru/unattended/dvdboot.imz
It can be both written on floppy and used as boot image for DVD.
It's not very stable because neither Microsoft mscdex nor FreeDOS
shsucdx do
not work for whole installation process and I have to use both of them.

I've tested it with WinXP, but think it should work with other OS'es as
well.
[/quote]

Maybe this is a solution

I have a solution that is posted to the list earlier.

Ok ... just for the list; i did try the dos pkunzip but this didn't
function because it needs some extended memory so afterwards i picked
rar. Luckily this works just fine.

Here is the batch file

i386.bat
---
:: Install i386 directory
@Echo off
cd /D C:\
%Z%\bin\unrar.exe x -r C:\i386.rar
del c:\i386.rar
---

modified base.bat

base.bat
---
:: Turn off Windows Messenger service
todo.pl "startup-type.pl Manual Messenger"

todo.pl i386.bat

::Install registry settings
todo.pl registry.bat

:: Cleanup messes left over from installing.
todo.pl hidepw.pl bootini.pl fixtz.pl

commandline command for rar under linux.
--
rar a -r i386.rar i386/
--

Afterwards you copy it to winxp/i386/$oem$/$1/ so it gets copied to the
c:\ drive during install.

That's it for now,

[Unattended] windows xp home edition

2004-10-15 Thread imdos
Hello  folks,

I have a strange problem during an unattended setup for a Windows XP sp1
oem disc. This is a dutch version of a Home edition disc.

If i'm installing it, i believe it is after installing Directx 9c it
reboots and after that i have a system that is not unattended anymore.
It just stalls after bootup and you can press on the icon to the user it
has (just) created. Because this is a Dutch version it is called
"Eigenaar"

The problem is i have to press a few times onto the user icon because
the autolog.pl doesn't fix this.

Thnx in advance,

imdos

[Unattended] copy the i386 directory to harddisk.

2004-10-07 Thread imdos
Hello group,

I would like to have a copy of the i386 directory to my c:\ drive.
I already had a try with a symlink and a copy of the files to
i386/$oem$/$1/i386 but then windows bails out with no space available or
a cannot copy GDIPLUS.

Anyone has a better idea for me?

Thnx, imdos

Re: [Unattended] Unattended XP Home and Pro

2004-09-21 Thread imdos
The other way would be to use software.csv and hardware.csv along with
the modified config.pl (sample-config.pl found in the site directory)
there you can put all the info about the mac-address, hostname,
product-key etc.

For the software specific stuff you must look at yet another patch

2004-09-21 Thread imdos
I think that you can try it out(test-case), basically because the volume
license key is meant to be for the Pro version and therefore shouldn't
work on the Home edition.

So what will happen ... the volume key will be tryed and will not be
accepted by the installation and then you will still be prompted to enter
the Product key for the Home edition.

Well, you can declare a private subnet somewhere and then in your
dhcp-config only broadcast it for your specific subnet declaration

[example]
subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
range 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.200;
option unattended-options"z_user=install z_pass=blaat
z_path=//server/install";
}
[/example]

Maybe it is a possibility to set up an SUS-server www.susserver.com and
to point your workstations to there. Then u can be sure all the updates
will be installed.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
 "WUServer"="http://SUSServer.Company.com";
 "WUStatusServer"=http://SUSServer.Company.com

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
 "AUOptions"=dword:0004
 "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"=dword:0001
 "NoAutoUpdate"=dword:
 "RescheduleWaitTime"=dword:0001
 "ScheduledInstallDay"=dword:
 "ScheduledInstallTime"=dword:0004
 "UseWUServer"=dword:0001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update]
 "AUOptions"=dword:0004
 "AUState"=dword:0002

reg delete
"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update\LastWaitTimeout" /force >nul

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto
Update]
 "ScheduledInstallDate"="2002.09.27 04:00:00"
 "Rescheduled"=dword:0001

With this there is also an overview of which client has (allready)
upgraded.

The 2Gb limitation is only when using fat-16! When you select fat-32 you
can allocate more Mb. At least that is when using the Linux bootdisk.
But i am sure that the other bootdisk will work also.

There were only the default values such as D: and other directories that
of course didn't have the windows xp i386 directory. I have found out
that it was kb817778 the Advanced Networking Patch that stop the install
process and asked for user interaction "Please insert Windows XP CD
which holds the i386 dir" or something like that was mentioned.

So if you apply to the registry the directories where the i386 dir
occurs on the network it continues installing.

[Unattended] new scripts and problem with oeminfo.ini

2004-03-14 Thread imdos
Hello guys,

After my recent question on this mailing-list i decided to contribute
some stuff to the community

Here's my winrar.bat
--
:: OPTIONAL: Install WinRar

todo.pl "%Z%\packages\wrar32b5.exe /s"
--

cat nav2003.bat
--
:: OPTIONAL: Install Norton Antivirus 2003

todo.pl "%Z%\packages\nav2003\nav\nav.msi /QB"

--

cat ad-aware.bat
--
:: OPTIONAL: Install Ad-Aware

todo.pl "%Z%\packages\aaw6.exe /s"
--

And final cat kazaa-lite.bat
--
:: OPTIONAL: Install Kazaa-Lite

todo.pl "%Z%\packages\klitekpp243e.exe /silent"
--

That's it for now!

Further more i have been trying to copy oeminfo.ini and oemlogo.bmp to
the system32 folder using the help from http://unattended.msfn.org/

so i made a os/win2k/$oem$/$$/System32/ folder and placed the files in
it but it doesn't work!

Thanx

This is just a test case, if it had something to do with the i386
directory, that could be the problem.

This error i did get with every version. but the error comes from 4.0a!

-r-xr-xr-x1 install  users4909 Dec  7  1999 040D.CS_*

ls -l /install/os/winxp/|head
total 108

I don't know what to do next, i have completed every action from the
