I apologize for this. This project is a hobby, and "real life" has a
habit of intervening.

Also, you are the first person to make this request :-).

I would absoultely be willing to integrate the change. I even wrote
"mapznrun.bat" with your request in mind... But there is a lot more
work to do, even if most of it is routine (replacing Z: with a
variable everywhere it appears).

We should probably work together on this. I can make a first pass,
but I need someone (e.g., you) to help test. Ever use CVS?

We can add a new setting to the [_meta] section, which you can then
configure from %Z%\site\unattend.txt.

[Unattended] could the "z:" drive be made customiseable per site please?

2003-09-15 Thread Urs Rau
Friends,

I had sent a question at the beginning of August which coincided with
the holidays, bad timing, and have never heard back andy feedback. But
since it is quite important to me. Could you let me know your ideas even
if it is just, "do it yourself and submit the patches". I would like to
know in advance, if possible, if "in-principle" you might be willing to
integrate the change or not.

I am trying to integrate the unattended setup with our existing networks
and we already have the "z:" drive mapped on all clients at all times.
Now I can keep changing the unattended files every time I receive a new
update for them, but would the ability to choose a locally
appropriate drive letter instead of the current default "z:" be
something that others would like to have as well?

Presuming the answer might be yes. Are there any volunters for
implementing the change? Maybe somebody has already done it all in an
automated way?

Are there any special comments or circumstances to consider when one
embarks on implementing this particular change?

It would be great to keep some of these local settings in a "*.ini" text
file on the share or even at the end of the "unattend.txt" file itself
along with other unattended settings?

Reactions?

Thanks for the great work, keep it up.

Urs Rau

PS: Apologies for re-sending the query to the list, I don't like users
re-sending their questions if they get no answer, normally, I guess
standards slip when it involves myself. ;-) Sorry.
