This is the official Unicode name and English ISO 10646 name; I believe
it is an idiosyncrasy introduced by some ISO commitee. Kenneth once told
me but I forgot.. Getting old I suppose.

Now if you speak French, you could use the official ISO 10646 French
name for this symbol: ?lambda?.

Errata in ETSI GSM 03.38 writeup

2002-02-07 Thread ろ〇〇〇〇 ろ〇〇〇
I went to the page
http://www.unicode.org/Public/MAPPINGS/ETSI/GSM0338.TXT
which Google found for me.

Um... check it out.
Lambda is lambda. There is no "lamda", which is probably an error for
"lambda".

And also, the Latin capital Y glyph, not the Latin capital U glyph, is what
you might use when you want a glyph for upsilon and already have Latin
glyphs at your disposal.

I love this "cheating" idea! One day I made a whole one of these encodings,
with Greek letters and Latin letters and some Cyrillic. And I put it *both*
kana sets and a few kanji as well, if I remember correctly. It was intended
for use to display karaoke lyrics.
