[UC] ISO Pianist
We just received a call that one of our regularly scheduled pianists has taken ill and will be out for the next few weeks at the least. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a replacement? All of our back ups are unavailable. We need a pianist who plays standards, some cabaret and 30/40 jazz favorites - someone who can sing and play is preferred as there often is a crowd that wants to sing along. Any suggestions welcome. [UC] Christmas Trees
So we're going to get a Chrstmas tree this year. A real one, that is. I never really bothered before, but last year while in exile in center city, my wife and I walked down to the neighborhood church where the boy scouts were selling trees and bought one. Is there a place in our new neighborhood that sells trees and wreaths and whatnot like that? You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named UnivCity. RE: [UC] Christmas Trees
It's my guess that there are some similar to the church set-up you describe somewhere in the neighborhood, perhaps the Firehouse Farmers' Market. But one I know of for sure is on the southwest corner of 46th and Baltimore outside a small used-furniture store. Of course, now my having said this, it will be the first year that there will be no Christmas tree sale. You mean those Boy Scouts who refuse to allow gay scouts?? Hmm. Nothing like supporting a homophobic group to send a message of love and tolerance during the holiday season!!! Jonathan A. I go to the don't ask, don't tell Produce Mart in Darby. It's a little bit of a trek but the prices are good the trees are very nice, and I can feel warm and toasty about not supporting an organization of pint-sized homophobes.
