Both combinations have been used by Linksys. On my own device it was as John
said - username was blank, password was admin. Best way to be sure is check
online for the user manual for your particular model.
This all assumes you never changed the default username/password.
If you have - and the default combination no longer works - you can still
resolve the problem, although with a certain amount of pain: you can reset the
router to factory default (there's a little pinhole into which you insert a
straightened paper clip or something like that and hold it in for a short
period of time) - then you'll be able to log in using the default name/password
- SO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE CORRECT DEFAULT NAME/PASSWORD FIRST - but you'll
have to re-set every setting you modified, including re-entering a key both in
the router and on each computer that uses the router. Basically, you're back
to where you were when you first bought the router. Like I said - with some
pain.

There are default username password for the linksys that you should
google for your specific device. Some use blank username and 'admin'
as password.
You can then click through to wireless - security to either obtain
existing or change to a new one.
Hope this helps.

I've a new student and I usually provide the network key so that he can

tell me how to change or reset it. It is a linksys router.
