Re: [UC] FOCP leader in the news

2010-11-24 Thread Anthony West
Translation: Four days after I reported the facts about Committee of
70's 2008 and 2009 tax filings, the Committee belatedly updated them in
order to be more current and transparent -- as this body rightfully, but
pompously, demands all public-sector agencies should do, in order to
live up to Committee of 70's alleged standards of good government.

After I published my article, Zack Stalberg found Jesus and decided to
bring his own corporate lobby's filings up to date -- as he has long
demanded all audits of City agencies should be.

He was right about them, and I am right about him.

Contosta's article shows that by Stalberg's own admission, Seventy's
fundraising costs are consistently above the average for all nonprofit
associations. Stalberg claims he finally got his administrative costs
below the national average last year. Good for him, if true!

Stalberg is an odd person to pass judgement on the journalistic worth of
working press like Nicole Contosta and myself. He's a former journalist
who now holds down a comfy gig in the neighborhood of $200,000/yr,
shilling for the political agenda of Philadelphia's big-business elite.
Nice work if you can get it, Zack. How Nicole and I wish!

Craig, have your buddies been spiking the tea at the tea parties?
There is no attack.

People of this neighborhood have a right to analyze the integrity of
their leaders and researchers. I didn't state that the Public Record is
"not a bona fide journalistic entity" or that Mr. West might not publish
correct facts. I passed along a report I read in a widely respected
source of local news.

I'm still moved by Michael Moore's pain about the character
assasinations he suffered. I, too, suffered character attacks at the
hands of so called journalists using outright lies. I don't know Mr.
Stalberg as you seem to know him, but I hate to see people suffer when
fake journalism attacks people with bogus facts. That seems to be what
two people at the Committee of 70 are saying in the report, and Mr West
seems to be involved.

Please remember that Mr. West holds a very important position between
the neighborhood and the Clark Park Partnership. He is the chief
researcher and chief spokesperson for the FOCP over many years. The
reliability and integrity of Mr. West's data is being questioned and
that's important for citizen journalists to report to the community!

Craig, you should have Cassidy and Bender test your tea before you have
anymore!

The Committee of Seventy under Stalberg has descended to little more
than a tool of the Nutter Administration as it tries to concentrate
more power in the executive branch by annexing heretofore the
responsibility of city government Row Offices.
The work of West and The Public Record you cite has nothing to do with
the FOCP! West and the Public Record have worked harder than any local
periodical to spotlight the "uber -progressives'" attempts to
disenfranchise the voting rights of Everyman.
In the past I may have labeled you an agent provocateur. With your
current post, it is obvious you are a tool of stupidity, but it is not
your fault! While FOCP and the City engaged in concrete sawing earlier
this week, it is apparent its waste product, which you allegedly
inhaled, made you go toxic.
Monday I mistakenly opened an old email folder and proceeded to read
emails from Cassidy and Bender -what a delight, even though I
occasionally remember Cassidy "busting 'em" for me. Then, I realized I
had opened up an old folder, not that the Barking Cheese Boys had
rejoined us.
Further, West makes his living as a journalist and lives in the hood,
whereas Stalberg makes his sucking on the nipple of a charitably
supported NPO that enables him to live upscale and drive a Jaguar.
In the interest of full disclosure, I recently attended several masses
with the publisher of The Public Record, Jim Tayoun. The last mass was
offered by eight priests and said in English, Arabic, and Aramaic -the
language Christ spoke. Now just what voices do you hear?

[UC] Health reform analyzed, Hedges

2010-11-24 Thread Glenn

To Theresa and the list,

Here is an excellent interview and opinion by Chris Hedges about the
health reform spectacle. Chris was a war correspondent for many years
and is a leading intellectual and voice against the permanent war
machine. He interviews Dr. Margaret Flowers, a pediatrician and leader
in the medicare for all movement. You may have seen her on Bill Moyers
or when the democrats had her arrested on different occasions.

Dr. Flowers offers a crisp and succinct criticism of the health care
bill and the process which produced it. This is a must read for all.

Chris gives an honest assessment of the situation we, the American
people, find ourselves in. I completely agree with his conclusion that
a life worth living does not allow us to fall in to despair. When we
open our eyes and live fully, we will begin fighting back day after day
and year after year!
